May Baskets
Such a Lovely way to demonstrate the Joy of gift giving...
The May basket is an old-fashioned tradition that will delight your special friends and neighbors. Kids love it because they put the basket on the neighbor's door, ring the bell, and run and hide!
May baskets can be given to friends and family, as well as taken to elderly neighbors or nursing homes. While fresh flowers and candy treats are usually left in the baskets, you can put other things as well. I think fresh flowers, a few tea bags and some little tea cookies would be wonderful!
The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land;
Song of Solomon 2:12
Fill your baskets with flowers or inexpensive treats. I like to use
popcorn as the main filler because it’s healthy, inexpensive and we
always have some in our pantry. You can also add a handful of candies.
The fastest way to make a May basket is to roll a piece of paper into a
cone shape, staple or tape it shut and attach a strip of paper for a
handle. You can also
cover disposable cups or small boxes with pretty paper. Children will
love decorating them with drawings and stickers.
Spring is nature's way of saying, 'Let's party!'

Yea, the LORD shall give that which is good; and our land shall yield her increase.
Psalm 85:12
Now I am approaching the time of my life when little children consider
me very old. There are no little children across the street in my
neighborhood who make May Day baskets. I don’t even know if there are
still any teachers in America who allow children in art classes to make
them. I hope so. Little acts of love like that can make memories which
last a life time. Happy May Day.
