God's Imagination

Luke 12: 27-28: “Consider how the lilies grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you …”
 Why did God create so many different flowers? I wonder if it’s because He wanted to show us that His power, His mercies, His blessings, His mind, and His creativity know no bounds? He is capable of “immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine” (Ephesians 3:20). When we think that we’ve seen all the blessings He has to give, we haven’t. There’s always infinitely more that God is capable of giving. And when we can’t imagine that there is anything other than what we currently see before our eyes, we are wrong, because God’s divine imagination and vision far exceed ours, and He sees possibilities even where we see none.

“I am the LORD, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?” (Jeremiah 32: 27)
 

Was God concerned only with creating a world that would be useful to us, or did He care about beauty as well? Genesis 2:9 records that God created trees that were "pleasing to the eye and good for food". Ours is a God who cares not only about feeding us physically, but also about feeding us spiritually.
 “FOR BY HIM [JESUS] ALL THINGS WERE CREATED: THINGS IN HEAVEN AND ON EARTH, VISIBLE AND INVISIBLE … ALL THINGS WERE CREATED BY HIM AND FOR HIM.” (COLOSSIANS 1:16)
 Song of Solomon 2:12 The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land;
 Be still and know that I am God.  Psalm 46:10
Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things.  Philippians 4:8

Summertime Memories

You have fixed all the boundaries of the earth; you have made summer and winter.


Do you have favorite summertime memories? I sure do.

Cold, sweet watermelon, yum! They didn't have seedless watermelon when I was a child or I would have eaten a lot more of it- something about spitting seeds out all over the place didn't appeal to me.
Ahhh, the sound of the Good Humor Man's truck coming down the street always made me happy. We rarely bought from the truck but I loved watching him drive down the street with that huge ice cream bar on the side.
We did however, get to eat ice cream treats from the 'ice box', aka refrigerator.
Another summertime favorite was to go roller skating. Oh, how I loved to roller skate.
Remember skates like these? We had a key to tighten them...and wore the key on a shoelace around our necks.
I loved to bike ride!
I loved the smell of freshly mowed grass. We used a push mower like this.
My first job ever was mowing lawns with a mower just like this one.
Mom loved to take us to Lake Michigan to go swimming. 
( That was before it became too polluted to swim in. )
Sunglasses, suntan lotion,  cold beverages and a good book were always in our beach bags
Lake Michigan wasn't-isn't this clean.... but I wanted to use a pretty picture for this...lol.
While looking for pictures, I found this and it reminded me of Mom and the beach.

I loved to make sand castles....
I loved to blow bubbles......
Summertime- oh, all the wonderfully juicy fruits to choose from...
I have always loved to read. Summertime gave me plenty of free time to do just that.
Even as an adult, one of my favorite pass times is to read a good book.
As much as I loved going to the beach, I never did care for sand creeping into places best left alone....so, I prefer a nice clean pool to swim in....like this one.
When the sun would start to set, I knew the fun was not quite over for the day- there were still fireflies to catch.

And at the end of a long day, there was nothing more relaxing than to fall asleep to the sound of the crickets chattering away outside- we still didn't have air conditioning , so windows were open and nature sounds crept in to lullaby me to sleep.

Amber Waves Of Grain

Our backyard sits next to a farmer's field. This season there was wheat growing. This week is harvest time. It's pretty cool to see a field of amber waves of grain one day and all the harvesters gleaning the wheat this week.

 Dad, I wish  we'd had more time together. I thought of you often......

I am so glad we have been able to reunite after all these years.
My hope is for every child and parent to be close- to share a cherished moment or two.... it's never too late ...until it's too late.

Look at my hat- it use to be one of my favorites.
I LOVED this neighborhood. It was filled with much laughter and good times. I even scraped my knees on these sidewalks tying to learn to ride a bike. ( which Pa helped me to learn )

Nana and Pa took Michelle and I on a lot of trips. We always had so much fun. I could never wait to get to our destination for the day- there was always a hotel with a swimming pool to enjoy after a long day of driving.

Nana and Pa moved to Colorado- they built a house in the mountains- their dream home.
This was  taken just as the house was complete but still needed yard work done.
